Dillon, a beautiful town of around 5,000 residents, is a county seat, early railroad center, college town, and an agricultural community. The history of Dillon and the story of its development reflect the combination of ranchers and businessmen. In 1880 the Utah and Northern Railroad came to this area en route to Butte. The "end of the track" town was called Terminus. This town moved with the railroad, bringing all of the necessary services. During the winter of 1880-1881, Dillon was the railroad's "end of the track".
The surrounding areas offer excellent culture, history, and recreation as well. Do not miss fishing Clark Canyon Reservoir, the Beaverhead or Big Hole Rivers, or taking a dip in a nearby hot springs.
Dillon is about the size of Connecticut and Rhode Island combined. Twin Bridges and Sheridan are in the neighboring county of Madison. Within Beaverhead and Madison Counties you find a varied real estate - from small town and small acreages to ranch and farm properties. The two counties make up a large portion of southwestern Montana.
