Moore Oklahoma Home Trends

By: Andy Janko

"Moore is growing rapidly, and that means that home values may be poised to take off. Not only that, but new employers in the area may attract new residents, also boosting home prices. In addition, new developments and renovation projects in the area have created a number of high-value real estate opportunities. Moore is also an exciting real estate market because there is such a range of properties available. From lots to modest single-family homes to executive condos, the savvy homebuyer can find their dream home here!

According to the most recent 2005 data available, median household income in Moore was $46,600, over $10 000 more than the state average. The median value of owner-occupied housing units was $92,000, which is just slightly above the state average. Affordable housing as well as good income means that home budgets can go further.

A new development in Moore has been the trend towards safe homes. As far back as 1998, Andrew Zagorski has been hired to build saferooms of solid concrete. Moore, Oklahoma hired Zagorski to build some of his saferooms for the city. When an F-5 tornado ripped through the region in 2003, hundreds of families were saved by the structures. Zagorski’s company is now looking into building private residences in Moore that are flood proof, fire proof, hurricane proof, tornado proof, and terrorist-proof. This could make these homes not only a first in the country, but also among the safest anywhere. Plus, the potential savings for homeowners on these homes would be great in insurance costs.

A number of new developments are also being built in Moore, especially in the Southeast region of the town. Most of these new construction developments offer exciting amenities such as lighted sidewalks and world-class design. Many of the new developments offer 1,277 to 2,345 square feet as well as green features that make the homes energy-efficient.

The ""Old Town"" or downtown area of Moore has recently been revitalized, opening up many exciting real estate opportunities and increasing the value of homes in the area. Downtown Moore is sometimes called Old Town by residents because the originally site of the town was what is now the downtown area. The outlying areas were slowly added after Moore was incorporated. Currently, the downtown or Old Town area is undergoing revitalization. Using public funding and private donations, the city has been making progress since 2006. New signs and light poles have been added in Old Town, some buildings have been updated or restored, and roads have been fixed. The result is a much nicer looking downtown core that is a better place to live and work. In the near future, it is possible that property value prices in the area will continue to increase as the restorations draw more interested buyers to the area. If you want to invest in Moore’s historic downtown, then, you will not want to delay. For homebuyers in the area looking for historic properties full of charm but without the hassle of major renovations, the newly restored buildings in Moore are sure to be of interest."
