The Sun-lit Land

By: Property Scout

While I'm sure you're aware of the land of the free, it's a pretty common phrase, have you ever heard of the land of the sun? Well, you may not have, but then again you probably have at some point. The Costa del Sol, whose name means "Coast of the sun", has recently been becoming rather well known as an excellent destination, both for holidays and retirement.

If you are planning on buying a holiday home, or just taking a vacation, the sun-lit shores of Spain is the perfect location for you. Usually, when looking to buy a holiday property, there is some negative factor to be considered. Maybe the locals are unfriendly, or the area is the frequent target of earthquakes or hurricanes. Not the sunny shores of Spain though.

Whatever you want to do on holiday, you can do it in the Costa del Sol. If you just want to lounge on the beach, well, I suppose you coud do that- although there is really so much more on offer. If this is all you want to do, then I suggest you go down in the winter. It's sunny and warm all year round, but there are fewer tourists in the winter months. So don't worry abou it being cold there. No snow in spain, unless you want some- and then you just have to head up a nearby mountain.

To be honest with you, I suppose that there is one downside. The countryside is so attractive, you might not be willing to leave. Which would be a real tragedy for whatever company you work for in your home town. To give you one example, the Costa del Sol city of Marbella is renowned for its quality nightlife, including high class theatres which are (naturally) showing an ever-changing selection of shows.

Besides the more usual, laid back holiday activities you can find in almost any other country, Costa del Sol also offers you a wide selection of more exciting things to do. I've already mentioned the mountains, which are not only known for the excellent skiing they offer, but are also a great place for hang gliding, mountain biking, or just hiking through the forest.

If you don't particularly like mountains, there are plenty of things you can do closer to the sea. For example, Costa del Sol has Tivoli world, one of Spain's largest fun parks, and somewhere you simply must visit while your there. You know that if you don't, your inner child will never let you hear the end of it. Besides Tivoli, there are a number of zoos and safari parks, as well as other wide ranging activities such as golf.

When you get to the shore, you'll find every water sport you could ever want is there for you to try. Although, I really don't think that swimming with dolphins qualifies as a sport as such, there is certainly a lot of variety. I advise, if you haven't done it before, you take the chance to sample scuba diving. It is well worth the effort.

If you take only one holiday in your life, and want to be assured it will be a good one, then Spain is for you. Spain, and the glorious Costa del Sol, which can now be reached via a single flight from any major city. Property there is selling fast, so now is the time to buy- either for a holiday home, or as an investment, for the price is sure to rise.
